Our First Grandchild

Last year, my son came to me in a panic and said, "Mom, Im so sorry, but, Lacie is pregnant." *my jaw drops*. Then I cry, and he eventually cries. My husband and I mourn his lost youth. I mean, the boy was only 16.
Now, he has since gotten his GED, turned 17 (a little better, right? lol) and he is working on his lisense. They have a vehicle and a marriage certificate and a room here in our home.
She is 31 weeks pregnant today. It has been a roller coaster of emotion and of close calls with her almost losing the baby.
As far as the emotions go, I am past the shock, only excited now. My first grandbaby, of course. I dont know what to be called by the baby though. Everyone has already called dibs on Nanny and Nana. Im only 34. I dont want to be called Granny lol. Any suggestions?

My Husband Was Mugged

Today my husband who is a trucker came straight from the ATM to the back of his semi trailer to check the breaks. He was knocked to the ground with a hard blunt object. It made him temporarily scatterbrained and blurry eyed. The asshole proceeded to steal the money he had just taken from the ATM. By the time my husband could think or see straight, the evil man was gone. My husband has a huge knot at the base of his skull, a major headache, and the road money he needed for his food on the road is gone. The ignorant man could have killed him for $160. Thats all Greg had on him. Of course cops werent much help. I dont understand why people are so cruel. I doubt the man ever will read this but just in case: you are a selfish cruel person and you will get yours when you are in hell.

A Different Shade of Green

So, I have this problem. I want to become active about the environment and my families health. Yes, we have the "swirly" light bulbs. And, yes, I buy organic soaps and Burts Bees shampoo, clean with non-toxic kitchen ingredients, try not to buy anything in a can, make my own laundry soap, purchased a water filtration system for our kitchen sink, buy second hand clothing, and try to buy more healthy foods for my family. That is most of what I do to be "green". And, thats ok. But the problem lies in the "other kind of green". The different shade of green I am talking about is money green.

I wonder, why in the world is "being green" so dang expensive? Go to any store and compare the prices of cleaners. Which costs more? Go to the grocery store and compare processed foods with nutritious foods. Which costs more? Dont even get me started on the fact that our little hick town DOES NOT HAVE garbage recycling for people. Hmm, not that I have heard of anyways. So, therein lies my problem. I want to be a green person but I dont have the right shade of green to become green. Does that make sense?

Secondly, I want a simpler life. I want to NOT have so much junk. I want to downsize from where I live. Please give me insight on how to do this. A couple facts about us first: We rent right now, not own. Our credit sucks so we would need to buy an acre or less of land with income tax money and then build slowly little by little. We REALLY want to build green (use solar power and such). I would even like our house to have a compost toillette. 500 square feet will be plenty for us since our kids are getting close to being grown. Two bedrooms. Am I being realistic??? I have researched hours and hours on different ways to build cheap. Cob, strawbale, tires, containers, tiny houses. I dont even know where to begin. Please Please help me and my family figure this out. Any ideas?

Going The Distance

Today I am going through all my photos. I dont feel very well and its just something I have been putting off. Grr. Its going to take forever. Its gonna require me to be selfish and "camp out" at my computer. As long as the kids dont get too pissed at me, it should go well. I have so many things to get done, but no energy to do any of it so I figured I would tackle whatever takes the least energy lol.
A couple months ago I bought a Canon EOS Rebel XS and I have taken hundreds of photos with it. Problem is, I keep every one. lol. But I am starting to really learn my camera so I see no need in keeping every single one. Note to self: No, Gloria, you dont need the shot of the sofa arm just because its in good focus!
By the way, I have a real photoshoot. The parents of a baby want me to do a photoshoot of their little baby girl. I am so excited. Im not a pro, but I have always (since 11 or so) dreamed of being a "REAL PHOTOGRAPHER". So, that makes me smile.
Something to look forward to perhaps?

A Little More About me...

Ok, so I have to fill you all in. I have three kids 13, 16, and almost 18. I have a great husband. I am 33 years old.
I have always dreamed of being a photographer. I recently purchased a canon rebel eos xs dslr camera. I love it but I havnt learned it yet. I will post some of my best photos thus far as soon as I figure out this blogging thing ;)
I used to write poems all the time. I may put some of those up as well. I love playing my guitar (just got me a martin backpacker that I love) although I dont play super well. Its fun to sit outside by myself and let er rip though. I love playing Jewel most of all.
I love to read as well. I have gobs of books around here that I still havnt gotten around to reading just yet.
I dont have a job right now cause Im having some issues with my heart. I also have COPD but I did quit smoking a few months ago so its much better now.
I will get into each of these things about myself in more detail later when I figure everything out. I have soooo much to write/type that I dont even know where to start. But I will. Very soon.
